Résumé

I'm Jacob Willden, a Web and App Developer. I develop front-end digital experiences with accessibility always in mind, while communicating with designers to build the best interfaces possible and continually learning how apps and the Web work.

Work Experience

Web Developer / Web Development Intern, FamilySearch (May 2023 to Present)

I am currently working as a Web Developer for the non-profit family history service FamilySearch, previously as a Web Development Intern from May 2023 to September 2023. I have helped create new experiences and improve existing experiences with my skills in React, and by coordinating with project managers, quality assurance, designers, and fellow developers.

Web Developer Intern, Discoro LLC (September 2022 through April 2023)

Discoro is a startup non-profit with the goal of providing QR codes that link to images, audio, and video (for purposes like preserving family heirlooms). I was responsible for the initial creation of the site with Wordpress, which included development of Discoro's minimum viable product using various Wordpress plugins and some custom JavaScript. I also provided consulting to new developers.

Volunteer Web Developer, Utah Valley Service Missionary Area (March 2020 through September 2020)

Based on a site map provided by my supervisor, I built a Website with Wordpress that provided information about opportunities for Service Missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that live in Utah Valley. The Website also enabled local Service Mission Leaders to communicate about openings at various service sites and to send personal messages to each other. It primarily helped to increase awareness about local missionary opportunities.

Volunteer Technology Specialist, BYU Family History Library (September 2018 through March 2020)

As most volunteers at the library are skilled with genealogy but not so much with technology, I was able to fill in the gap by assisting patrons and fellow volunteers with family history software (including FamilySearch, Ancestry, and MyHeritage) and hardware (including photo and slide scanners and microfilm readers).

Education

Utah Valley University, Bachelor's Degree in Web Design & Development, Web & App Development Emphasis (Current)
